Schools Serving Boston-Edison

The involved parent living in Boston-Edison has many choices of schools for their children. The Skillman Foundation, a private organization whose aim is to develop good schools in Detroit, has identified good schools, both public and private, all over Detroit. These schools have participated voluntarily in the Skillman program. You can access their findings in map form.

Many of these schools are within easy reach of the Boston-Edison neighborhood. All the schools mentioned below are ones Skillman has ranked as good schools.

Detroit Public Schools

The two public elementary schools that serve 90% of Boston-Edison homes are Durfee Elementary (covering the area west of Martin Luther King Blvd) and Thirkell Elementary (covering most of the area east of Martin Luther King Blvd). Both schools are identified by Skillman as good schools, with Thirkell receiving the top grade.
